Joffre Peak via Aussie Couloir
Joffre Peak (2721m) via Aussie Couloir attempt #2 (see attempt #1 below) on February 5, 2024. Kai and I decided to head back here this past weekend, with favourable avalanche conditions and weather forecast. We did Mt Matier last spring and on our way down the mountain we were eyeing this beauty! I was hesitant about Joffre at first, just as I was hesitant about Matier when I first thought about going for it. I had met Nikita at the hut the night before climbing Matier. She told me she just did the climb and felt nervous but was able to overcome it - and that was on her own! I found Joffre daunting when I first saw it too but after seeing Nikita’s trip report a couple of weeks later, I felt inspired to go for it with Kai in the near future.
